History
1977
State of Florida granted the Right of Incorporation to the Hispanic Human Resources Council, Inc.
Founded by Luciano Martinez, a Cuban social worker who earned his degree from Florida International University, Hispanic Human Resources Center (HHRC) started as a community prevention and resource agency to help immigrants access the services and resources needed to live, work, and thrive in Palm Beach County. By collaborating with governmental and other human services agencies, HHRC improved cultural awareness and addressed the social service needs of various minority groups in the community.
1980’s
HHRC housed at the Union Congregational Church located on Georgia Avenue, West Palm Beach.
Focused primarily on social and economic programs during the early 80s, a significant part of its efforts was to communicate with the community the scope and range of services geared towards a diverse population and to improve interculture/race relations in our community. HHRC has achieved a unique leadership position within the County's Hispanic community to offer services to ALL residents of Palm Beach County. Services focused on working and low-income families who were in dire need of resources, education, and childcare. HHRC offered these services at their first location on Georgia Avenue. The Children’s Fund was created to help fund low-cost children’s programming for the minority community.
2011
HHRC breaks ground to build the Luciano Martinez Child Development Center located at 1351 S. Congress Avenue, Palm Springs.
In the 2000s, HHRC saw the need to further expand its reach to meet the ever-changing needs of the community. A capital campaign was used to raise funds to build a second Child Development Center named after our founder, Luciano Martinez. Services continued to provide additional support to disadvantaged families to elevate them from poverty.
2020s
HHRC serves the wholistic needs of 300 low-income families and at-risk children aged 1- to 4-years. HHRC impacts over 1,200 members of the community.
Today, HHRC offers high-quality early childhood education in a safe learning environment. Both Centers are licensed and accredited providing bilingual education, nutrition, childcare, health, and mental/behavioral health services to children. Serving over 1,000 community members annually, HHRC’s Family and Community Engagement Services (FACES) provides disadvantaged families resources, assistance, referrals, education, support, to help families and the community thrive.
